The Lies We Tell Our Children!

Our parents have always told their children that, if you go to school and work hard that upon graduation, you would be able to find a way to make a living. By “make a living” they meant to find a job.

This was true in the forties, fifties—but the truth of this statement has begun to fade.

Now it is a lie that we tell our children.

For our small middle class families this statement remains true.

For the large low income families it is a lie that their parents tell their children.

Our public schools teach mostly low income children.

Eighty four percent of CPS pupils are from low income families.

When our low income pupil graduates, there will be no good jobs waiting for them.

What will be available to low income pupils at graduation are:
(a) Low income positions
(b) High income in drugs
(c) Criminal activities

Many choose (b) some choose ©.  This is when they enter the “Criminal Justus System of America”.

We must change this.

If we teach our children in the elementary schools of America what they need to be taught so that they can be employed upon graduation, is a goal every educator should strive to achieve.

We, “The public schools of America” must produce curriculums that will bring back the middle class.

To do this we must:

(a) Create a typing program in the first grade.
(b) Introduce the computer in the first grade.
(c) Teach windows programs to our children.
(d) Use learning programs to teach mathematic and science.

STEP UP!

Blog # 5

Let’s tell our children the truth.

High Intelligence Quotients “IQ” Are Distributed Through Out Our Society—Even In Our Lower
Income Families.

What some of our bright low income children have gleamed is that public school education will not produce TV economic success for them.

They have chosen crime.

The Criminal Justice System is an economical system of existence for many of our citizens.

We have:
(a) The police force.
(b) Legal systems.
(c) Penal intuitions.
(d) Criminal success.

Some will say that (d) Criminal success does not exist. This is again a lie we tell our children.

Criminal endeavors are live and are an integral part of our economic environment.

Drug sales have produced an economy of success for our public school drop outs—it has also produced a way to live even if you are a failure and incarnated. This cost America billion per year.

All this is somehow supported by our government.

Let The Truth Be Known

Our school systems are not teaching what our lower income pupils need to support a family after
graduation.

If we follow the many drop outs of our public schools we will find drug dependence; which is in
many cases are the reason they become criminals.

BSE would like to help our school systems give mathematical instruction, that upon graduation,
our pupils will be able to find a good job.

After ASM-I there will be ASM-II, ASM-III and finally ASM-IV —all this will take place in grades one through seven. In the eighth grade they will learn the computer inside and out.

With this technical knowledge, employment upon graduation will be available.

Teachers of America

My company:  Bradbury Software Enterprises

BSE is not trying to help Public Schools or Politicians or anyone else remove you form your teaching positions.

I Emmett L. Bradbury am a retired teacher.
During the thirty-five years that I taught in the Public Schools of Chicago and the City Colleges of Chicago, I was also a Teachers Union Member.
I was on the picket line for every strike during those thirty-five years of service.
I was in the streets around our schools with my fellow union members of the teachers union.

Teachers, Public School administrators, and politicians must “Step Up and Change” the Public Schools of America.

Our goals in the Public Schools of Chicago should be to write the curriculum of every item of the instruction that will bring our economically middle class pupils back to the public schools of Chicago.

1.          We want subjects in our curriculum that will help our students, upon graduation, a means of employment in some technological area of our economy.
2.          The subject that must be presented is:

A.    Typing. There are many computer programs that will teach our students how to type.
B.     We must have computer programs that will teach the computer, its functions and how it works.
C.     He/she must know all of windows projects on an elementary level.
D.    Programs that explain how the computer technology works should be attempted.

Radical change in education is possible now.

We can use the computer to help us teach subjects more efficiently.  Mathematics is a computer subject and a proficiency of which our children dearly need.

Although the three R’s are necessary for adulthood in our economy, there are more serious needs in our Public Schools.

The conduct of our Public School children at home and in the classroom must change.

The basic moral and ethical behavior of any thirty or older American cannot be found in younger Americans.

Our low-income parents are not teaching their children civil and socially decent behavior.

This problem is more prevalent in today’s public schools than in the past, when parents controlled their children.

Here again, is a public problem the public schools must address.  Public schools must teach their low-income children how to behave in school and at home as normal American children behave.

They cannot be successful in the business world in America with the behavior they present to the teachers, and fellow students.

All curriculum changes in our public schools must include a subject that teaches proper behavior.

WHY
SHOULD I
 BUY
ASM-I?

Teachers have used computers to assist them in teaching. ASM-I shows us that modern advancements in computer technology have produced a new way of learning.

THE COMPUTER CAN TEACH!

ASM-I perform every pedagogical behavior that a good teacher does in teaching a child the skills of whole numbers:

ASM-I presents the skill on screen using multimedia to introduce the skill. The pupil can replay this introduction as many times as he wishes—each time, different number appear—this can’t be done in a real classroom.

The pupil must take three tests to show that he has learned the skill. There is a Quiz 1, Quiz 2 and an Examination.

Quiz1 presents a number of different problems to the pupil. If a pupil answers correctly ASM-I states that he has answered correctly. This is rewarding the pupil; as a good teacher would do. An incorrect answer is stated as incorrect. The pupil is not rewarded by increasing the number that shows how many problems he has answered correctly. Again, this is exactly what a good teacher would do. ASM-I also shows the pupil exactly where he has made his first error. Clearly, this is teaching.

This raises the following question. Is our system of education producing an equal opportunity to learn for all our children? The answer is an unequivocal no.

Every child in our public schools gets a different education in spite of curriculum guides. The teachers of our children are different in many ways: their ability to teach, their different subject interests and, above all, their devotion to teaching.
System like this cannot produce a method of quality control.

Unlike other areas of our existence health, social behavior, and food are controlled; education is not.

THE COMPUTER CAN MAKE QUA LITY CONTROL POSSIBLE IN EDUCATION

Computer programs similar to ASM-I could be a good teacher for all of our children. The human teacher would become supervisors of the computer as it teaches our children.

ASM-I records all test responses of the pupil.

THE TEACHER OR PARENT KNOWS EACH SKILL THEIR PUPIL HAS MASTERED

(a) ASM-I will teach a child at his own rate of learning. If a parent realizes her child is moving ahead of where his class is, she can encourage him to move on.
(b) The parent will know what skill her child has mastered. To find out what skill your child has
Not learned: he can take ever examination up to where his class is currently studying. If there are gaps— go back and remove them.
(c) The parent or teacher will know how long their child has spent in each session— this information can be used to monitor the pupil as he works ASM-I. If the pupil is not working as hard as the parent or teacher expects he could be disciplined.
(d) To see ASM-I in action go to our website at www.arithmaticskill.com.
